Fuengirola

Fuengirola is located on the south-central part of the county and it belongs to the Occidental part of Costa del Sol and to the homonymous members’ association of municipalities. It is the main place of the jurisdiction of Fuengirola.

This municipality has an extension of 10 km2. Almost all its surface is urban. It has a coastline of approximately 8 km long, with beaches facing the south-east part of the municipality. It is the fifth municipality of the county with more population and has almost the highest population density with more than 7,100 inhabitants per km2.

It is located 30 km to the south-west part of the city of Málaga. The North of Fuengirola is at the border with the municipalities of Benalmádena and Mijas, places of cultural interest, and a reflection of the white Andalusian ancient villages. At the same time, the town of Mijas is at the border with the west and south part of several and great Golf courses.

The coastline of Fuengirola is located in a low level, with an altitude between 0 and 5 metres above sea level, except the villages of Los Pacos, Torreblanca, Yeseras, and Carvajal, located on the North in an area on the hills. On the south west area the river of Fuengirola is on the border with the town of Mijas, which finally flows into the city. This territory has also other occasional storm watercourses descending from the mountains of Mijas.
